Developed and testified for the University’s ARPA request from the legislature (LB962)

Developed and testified for the University’s ARPA request from the legislature (LB962): In collaboration with the Chancellor’s office, SVC’s office, Office of the President, and various other campus partners, I generated a proposal to the Nebraska legislature to request American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for the support of a facility renovation to house the STEM TRAIL Center. The resolution was prepared by Senator A. Wishart in Fall of 2021 (LR178) and for the Spring 2022 legislative session, the bill (LB962) was co-sponsored by Senators T. Vargas and M. McDonnell on the Appropriation Committee. LB962 – Appropriate federal funds to the University of Nebraska to construct a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Teaching, Research, and Inquiry-based Learning Center:  $5M. The bill failed to be moved out of the appropriations committee to the floor and thus was halted in March 2022 for consideration. Instead, broader economic development funds were dispersed to the city of Omaha to manage such requests.
